Finally, 20 days overdue, Lily surprised us with a daytime foaling, a first for Celtic Stud NZ! Her HorseSafe foaling alarm and Equine Eye cameras meant help was there at just the right moment. Welcome to the world, Celtic Darach (Dara).

We have a name! 🍀

Her paddock name is Dara (Dáire, pronounced DAH-rah), rooted in the Old Irish word for "oak tree" or "wise". Her full name is Celtic Darach, pronounced DAR-akh. In Celtic tradition the oak tree was sacred, a symbol of strength, endurance, wisdom and stability.

A sweet filly with a gentle soul. Very inquisitive, and she loves scratches under her neck and on her wither.
